This refers to the tailgate of the vehicles, which enabled the military to transport a truck or other military equipment. The XV in LARC denotes the maximum payload: 15 tons. The vehicles are made of aluminum and have the following (precise) dimensions: 13.71 m in length, 4.41 m in width, and 4.70 m in height. (American measurements: 45 ft x 15 ft x 14 ft). The original LARC vehicles were equipped with two Cummins 8-cylinder diesel engines, each delivering 300 HP. On land, the vehicles could reach a maximum speed of 48 km/h and, on water, 9.5 knots, which is approximately 18 km/h. The unladen weight of the vehicle is 22 tons.
