Mr. Klaus, the founder and owner of SAPI, developed a passion for innovation and technology at an early age. Before founding SAPI, he worked in (industry or organization) and completed his education at (university or other school). In his late twenties, he discovered that sandblasting technology had not advanced as much as other technologies, so he began to experiment and ultimately created the first SAPI product: a sandblasting nozzle for injector sandblasting. This marked the origin of the name SAPI, which stands for SAndstrahl-PIstole (sandblasting gun).

The first SAPI headquarters was located in a small Bavarian town called Nördlingen. This facility featured a 3,200 square meter production hall where the SAPI sandblasting machines were developed and perfected. The first SAPI sandblasting hall was constructed and equipped in 1984. During the 1980s, SAPI invented an entire range of sandblasting machines and equipment, but most notably, the company developed and patented the SAPI extraction turbine called SANASA, which—supported by the Bavarian Ministry—revolutionized the sandblasting industry by significantly reducing sandblasting emissions.

In the following years, we focused our passion on other surface treatment technologies, and in 1992, the first SAPI spray painting booth was designed and built. In 1993, the construction of the first combined SAPI painting and drying booth was completed.

Since our capacity in Nördlingen became insufficient, we began construction of a 14,400 square meter facility in the Nördlingen-Möttingen industrial area. This milestone allowed us to further expand our expertise in surface treatment and enabled us to significantly scale up production. At our new company headquarters, sandblasting and painting containers were initially built and refined.

In the 2000s, it became apparent that our new facility would still not be enough, so we established a partnership with a company in Hungary, where the majority of Mammut and standard sandblasting booths are now manufactured under the supervision of the SAPI engineering team, adhering to the highest standards and manufacturing tolerances.

In the following years, our dedicated team of engineers developed and patented a sandblasting booth that elegantly combines injector and pressure sandblasting. As this solution offered virtually unlimited performance and flexibility, we named the line T-REX. The next major development was the MM2010 pressure sandblasting booth, equipped with an automatic material separator. In 2020, the sandblasting booth received a major smart upgrade, incorporating a computer with a custom Windows CE-based program that detects any system errors with full touchscreen support.

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, we expanded beyond Germany’s borders. Today, SAPI maintains a strong presence in Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovakia, and Hungary. In 2020, we established a new headquarters with storage and production facilities in Turkey.

We don’t know what the future holds, but we do know that we will be there—treating one surface after another.
