With nitrogen inerting, the test chamber is first purged with a large flow rate of N2 until the
o2 content drops below 3%. Then, it switches to a base flow amount (approx. 10% of the large flow rate).
The nitrogen flow for the base amount is measured and displayed using a flowmeter and monitored via a limit switch.
O2 monitoring continuously extracts gas from the test chamber via a flame arrestor and passes it over an O2 sensor which checks the residual oxygen content of the extracted air.
Afterwards, the gas is returned to the test chamber via a second flame arrestor.
The extraction pump is monitored by a volumetric flow meter. Additional details can be found in the Dräger user manual in the appendix.
